Overview of Port of Tallinn’s performance results

According to preliminary data, in 2015 the turnover of Port of Tallinn was EUR 93.8 million, 22.4 million tons of cargo passed through the harbours of Port of Tallinn and passenger number hit the whole-time record of 9.79 million people.

According to Marko Raid, the Member of the Management Board of Port of Tallinn, the company’s economic performance in 2015 was decent, especially when regarding the general decrease in region’s cargo flow and internal changes in the company.

“It was a difficult year, but as a result the annual turnover decreased less than the cargo flow and we were able to earn a decent profit. Performance results were strongly influenced by the decrease of liquid bulk goods and the fact that it was not possible to charter out the icebreaker Botnica for the summer period. On the other hand, the number of passengers passing through the harbours of Port of Tallinn kept increasing and hit again the whole-time record,” described Raid.

Compared to 2014, the operating revenue of Port of Tallinn decreased by EUR 17 million i.e. 15 percent.  “The final revenue number has not been confirmed yet, but the Supervisory Board of Port of Tallinn expects the Annual Report to be without remarks, which means that impairment of some assets is expected,” added Raid.

In 2015 the cargo volume passing through the harbours of Port of Tallinn was 22.44 million tons decreasing by 20.8 percent compared to 2014.

“Passenger number, however, increased last year more than two percent up to 9.79 million people,” said Raid.

For 2016 Port of Tallinn forecasts the cargo volume to remain on the current level and passenger number to reach 9.95 million.
